The assistant can explain a mismatch and suggest a route, but an incorrect change could affect accounting, a supplier relationship or an unauthorised payment.
PROCESS INTELLIGENCE / 05 WHO DECIDES
Human Control.
Keep authority, exceptions and recourse with accountable people.
Human control makes the AI-supported process operable, safe and answerable to the business.
Human Control defines who reviews, approves, corrects, overrides, escalates and can stop the AI-supported process. It distinguishes assistance from authority: the capability may prepare evidence or recommend an action, but it does not silently inherit the decision rights of a finance officer, adviser, manager or risk owner. Users must be able to see the relevant source, understand the boundary and challenge the output.
The control design is proportionate to consequence and includes access, confidence thresholds, exception routing, logging, monitoring, incident response and recourse for affected people. It also covers practical adoption — who receives the new queue, how corrections are captured and how the process continues if the AI is unavailable. These controls become functional requirements tested in the pilot, not policy statements added after implementation.

The same example follows the complete map so each dependency remains visible from outcome to pilot evidence.
A finance officer verifies every material recommendation; approval limits remain enforced; uncertain cases escalate; overrides and corrections are logged; an authorised owner can stop the capability.
Data makes it possible. People keep it accountable.
Evidence required at this step
User roles, approval limits, segregation-of-duties rules, confidence and exception records, action logs, incident history and correction outcomes.
